Trotec dehumidifiers protect electronic systems and equipment against failures

Radar and navigation systems in the tower represent the beating heart of communication at any airport. In these radar control centres, flight controllers and air traffic control service providers monitor what is happening in the sky, determine flight positions, communicate with pilots and calculate optimised arrival and departure sequences for air traffic using state-of-the-art communication systems. Issues regarding the highly sensitive equipment can have devastating consequences for flight safety on the ground and in the air. Not to speak of delayed or cancelled flight connections, dissatisfied passengers and a substantial impairment of scheduled airport operation. While in Germany Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH, the air traffic administration company, is responsible for air traffic control matters, designing and monitoring all technical systems itself, in other countries this task is undertaken by comparable air traffic control service providers.

High humidity levels are the enemy for any electronic device

In their indispensable work to ensure safe air traffic, air traffic control service providers, especially in holiday destinations that are located in southern countries, are frequently confronted with a security-related problem.

Excessively humid and salty air, which can lead to malfunctions, corrosion, broken wiring and even system failures in technical equipment.

A worst case scenario for any airport. High operational safety of electronic devices in regions with permanently critical humidity levels is only guaranteed if humidity levels are controlled. The critical limit above which metal oxidises or corrodes is in the relative humidity range between 50 % and 70 %. Therefore, the use of reliable air-conditioning technology is indispensable in the sector of air traffic control. In their endeavour to provide maximum operational safety, the air traffic control service providers rely on proven air-conditioning technology from Trotec to ensure a constant room climate with optimum humidity values < 50 % in control centres and radar stations.

Benefits of stationary dehumidification solutions from Trotec:

  • Protection against oxidation and corrosion
  • Ensuring the functionality of all technical components
  • Extended service life of electronic components
  • Indirect energy savings for air conditioners
  • Remote monitoring of all important climate parameters and systems at different sites via TTSL® platform

Trotec air-conditioning technology guarantees constant humidity values

The use of wall-mounted, extremely robust condenser dryers from Trotec prevents too high humidity values and issues with regard to electronic systems. The devices of the DH series, DH VPR+ series as well as the devices of the DS series, which are specially designed for wet areas with high air humidity values, ensure ideal humidity levels with a dehumidification performance of up to 104 litres/day. Trotec’s range of high-performance condenser dryers is topped off by the pedestal units DH 160 and DH 310. Trotec's industrial desiccant dehumidifiers are powerful refrigerant dryers with a dehumidification performance of up to 500 litres per day (4,600 m³/h air volume), which contain an integrated compression refrigeration system the task of which is to transport the cooling agent through the condenser and an evaporator. The air sucked in by air circulation is led through the evaporator, cooled below their dew point temperature, condensed to water drops and is then discharged to a collection container. The cold, dry air is now guided through the hot condenser, there it heats up due to the process energy and then flows back into the room as dry, warm air before taking up moisture again. This heat pump principle ensures an optimum humidity level at minimum energy costs.

An even greater dry air performance is guaranteed by the extensively equipped industrial desiccant dehumidifiers of the TTR series. With a scalable dehumidification performance of up to 1,790 litres per day (air volume of 14,700 m³/h), the desiccant dehumidifiers are ideally suited even for large computer centres and extensive areas with sensitive electronic systems.

All Trotec dehumidifiers include:

  • Professional quality "made in Germany" – originally produced by Trotec
  • Scalable dehumidification performance for all applications and cultivation surfaces
  • Robust sheet steel housing with high-quality coating
  • Can be configured individually for any application due to a wide range of equipment options

Why the tried and tested dehumidification solutions from Trotec are also your best choice when it comes to protect sensitive electronic equipment

Optimum climate conditions and humidity values are essential for the safe and failure-free operation of electronic components. Controlled humidity levels protect against expensive failures and malfunctions and extend the service life of expensive systems.

Make use of Trotec's best practice industrial services

Since every industrial undertaking has characteristic process flows, installations and facilities, every air treatment solution demands case-specific device configurations. All in all, the combined effects of air currents, humidity conditions and temperature fluctuations are often hard to calculate on a purely theoretical basis, e.g. in airlock areas or on conveying paths. The consequence: Unnecessary additional costs due to an overestimated demand or – even worse – solutions not working sufficiently in real life.

You can count on our experts

In order to precisely calculate the demand in the industry and to develop tailor-made concepts for climate conditioning experienced climate specialists are needed. Rely on our team of experts as well as the industrial services: We analyse the individual requirement situation with you present on site, determine the specific demand for devices and develop a tailor-made project solution right up to the exact positioning of the devices.
